Regarding Ponciano Aguilar. The main works of Ponciano Aguilar were during the Porfiriato, when he served as professor and researcher of the State of Guanajuato College (the immediate predecessor of the University of Guanajuato). In addition to having excelled in the field of mining, he also excelled in the area of engineering, providing Guanajuato with important civil works. This illustrious engineer is recognized for his valuable participation in the construction of the La Esperanza dam and reservoir, inaugurated in 1894.
