1. 116-120 South Main Marker
Inscription. When John Platz built this building in 1863 for his grocery and his daughter's dressmaking shop, he actually owned only half of his north wall and only half of his south wall. The practice of sharing walls was not usual in St. Charles, and these common walls helped preserve these Civil War era buildings.
 
Erected 2010 by Historic Downtown Association.
