Crusher Shed. . These three walls supported the crusher shed, which contained a sieve and hoppers. The rock crusher was located next to the building. The large, steel cylinder was called a multiple rotating sieve, which sorted crushed stone into various sizes., Workers brought stone from the quarry and fed it into the crusher. The crushed stone was then fed by conveyor belt into the metal sieve, which revolved at a slight angle. At the base of the sieve you can see part of the gearing that turned it. The stone fell through the different sized holes into hoppers, sorted by size., Horse carts and trucks were backed into the passageways under the shed and were filled with different sizes of stone to be sold for road work. This stone was not heated in the kilns.
