Regarding The House of the Headless Friar. There are many local myths about the statue of the Kucal Kin or Headless Friar. One legend says that the head (and probably the Christ Child too, assuming the statue was of Saint Anthony) was taken off by a cannon ball during the fighting to end the French Intervention in the Yucatán in 1867. Other legends revolve around the headless friar coming to life at night and walking the quiet streets, haunting the dreams of the neighbors.
