1. Hennesy Plaza Marker
Dr. James L. and Margaret Hennesy led the advancement of Southeastern College from 1980 through 1998. Natives of Camden, Arkansas and Mobile, Alabama, the couple married in 1955 and began their ministry as evangelists in the southeastern and central parts of the United States. The Hennesys pastored churches in Arkansas, Alabama and Georgia before coming to Southeastern. While here, Dr. Hennesy served as President, and Mrs. Hennesy served as Director of College Relations and Communications. Southeastern became regionally accredited during their tenure, and facilities were expanded to include the Steelman Library and Jerome E. Bolin Hall. Dr. Hennesy served the General Council of the Assemblies of God as a member of the General Presbytery, the Foreign Missions Board, and the Board of Education.
