Das 1904 gegründete Brauhaus erhielt seinen Namen auf Grund der historischen Begebenheit, dass Herzog Jan I. von Brabant an gleicher Adresse seine Hofhaltung unterhielt. Das Relief im Türkopfstein zeigt den heiligen Petrus von Mailand Schutzpatron der Kölner Brauer.

The brewery, founded in 1904, was named after the historical circumstance that Duke Jan I of Brabant maintained his household at the same address. The relief in the door keystone shows St. Peter of Milan, patron saint of the Cologne brewers.
