Inscription. The American Locomotive Company (ALCO) built this model RS-3 diesel-electric, four axle (B-B), road switcher locomotive. It produced 1600 hp from a 12 cylinder, model 244 engine. The RS-3 was built from May 1950 to August 1956, and 1,370 were produced — 1,265 for American, 98 for Canadian, and 7 for Mexican railroads. In 1975 it was sold to the three mile long Bauxite & Northern Railway at Bauxite, Arkansas. Equity Grain Co-op of Houston purchased it next when it suffered a broken crankshaft. A private individual obtained it and in 1995 it was sold to the museum for a nominal amount. It was restored to its initial MP appearance from 2000 - 2006.
