Pedro Sainz de Baranda y Borreiro (March 13, 1787 - December 16, 1845) was a soldier, sailor and politician of New Spain, born in San Francisco de Campeche and died in Mérida, Yucatán. He took part in the famous Battle of Trafalgar where he was wounded and promoted to lieutenant. During the Mexican War of Independence, he defeated a royalist convoy near Veracruz when the Fort of San Juan de Ulúa was besieged in 1825.
