1. Spangler's Spring Marker
"It seems Captain Selfridge of Company H, had taken some of his men's canteens and gone on ahead to Spangler's Spring to fill them, when he discovered "Johnnies" also there filling their canteens. He backed out with the best grace he could command, and reported it to the Colonel… A skirmish line … found the enemy as stated and saved many lives."

4. Small Brook from Spangler's Spring
A small brook flows out from the second spring, a few yards from the capped off main spring. Even today, a sizable amount of water flows from the spring.

5. Spangler's Spring Marker - missing
Markers can be removed for repairs or renovation and then replaced. Perhaps this is the case here, as this is an example of an earlier style of wayside.
