1. Christ Church Marker
Inscription. The beautiful Gothic structure, dating to 1880, has a steep slate roof, a stone foundation, and is distinctly different from most other church buildings in the region. Note the unusual chimney. This style, known as "lancet," actually dates back to the 13th century. Wooden pegs, instead of nails, and bricks from the church's predecessor, the old Christ Church at Broad Creek (dating from 1652), were used to build the structure. This site housed one of the oldest congregations in the state until they relocated in 1995 to their present Stevensville location on Rt. 8 south. The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
