This Brigade was the left of Cheatham's second line when it formed for action, having Maney's Brigade on its right. After the front line of the Division had been engaged for about two hours the Brigade moved over this ground and relieved Preston Smith's Brigade on the next crest to the north.
This movement left it without support on either flank, and it was severely attacked from the front and on both flanks. Its right was shortly relieved by the advance of Maney's Brigade, but soon both were obliged to fall back to the lines of their first formation. At dark the Brigade advanced as a support to Deshler's Brigade of Cleburne's Division, but did not become engaged. It bivouacked in line of battle in the Brock field

More about this marker. I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
