Upon arriving upon this ground from the glade north of the Kelly field the Brigade recovered many of its wounded of the morning fight. At dusk, while advancing on the left of Starkweather's Brigade, which was then moving into action on the left of Johnson's Division, Scribner's Brigade made a slight wheel to the right in the gloom, while Starkweather's made a similar movement to the left and the two Brigades fired into each other, adding immensely to the confusion of the night attack. At the close of the engagement which lasted over an hour, both Brigades fell back to the Kelly field.

I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
