The Battery arrived with its Division from the vicinity of Catlett's Gap soon after noon and followed its Brigade into action about 1 p.m. After advancing about half way through the woods from the Kelly field, the Battery came into position firing 130 rounds at a battery that was shelling the line at this point. The Brigade charged and the Battery came into position on this ground soon after 3 p.m. and remained quietly in position until nearly dak, when the line was attacked by both infantry and artillery.
The Battery opened fire immediately, and continued till the left flank was broken, when fearing the Battery would be captured it retired with the Brigade, abandoning one gun which was entangled in the timber with one of the team horses shot down. The Battery bivouacked in line of battle with the Brigade east of the Kelly field.
