1. Saint James United Church / Église unie Saint James Marker
Built in 1908 to the Romanesque revival design of architect H.H. Mott and replacing an earlier wooden church on the same site, Saint James's red brick and sandstone exterior make it unique among Woodstock's churches.
Saint James was a Methodist church, continuing a local Methodist history going back to the mid-1830's when the denomination’s first church was built on Lower Main Street. The congregation moved to the present site in 1857, and, in 1925, the Methodists became part of the new United Church of Canada.
