1. Outer City Gate Marker

English Text:

The outer city gate was part of the heavy
fortification that protected the city.
It included an inner city gate and four solid towers.
Between the two gates was a spacious paved courtyard.
The gate of Bethsaida is the largest and
best preserved city gate from the biblical
period (10th-8th centuries B.C.E.).

 
Location. 32° 54.6′ N, 35° 37.868′ E. Marker is near Had Nes, Northern District, in Golan Regional Council. Marker can be reached from Northern District Route 888 just north of Northern District Route 87, on the left when traveling north. This marker is located along a park walking trail in the archaeological park at Tel Beit Tsaida, which has also been identified has the Biblical site of Bethsaida. Touch for map.
