"The Old Mineola City Hall". . In December of 1902 the city hall building burned. For more than 20 years the city conducted business in rented quarters. In 1929 the City bought land at the corner of N. Line and W. Kilpatrick St., the site of this building, from the Barney B. Hart Estate. On March 31, 1930, the City hired R.D. Adrain to be the builder. Mr. Adrain told the commission he thought it could be built for $2000. The fire station was built but work on the City Hall was delayed and not completed until 1939. The design of the City Hall, a WPA Project, reflected the Art Moderne Style. This remained the City Hall until 1986 when the City built a new complex on Hwy 69, northwest of downtown.
