A lady well known in Virginia who occasionally visited the town, fleeing from the sultry heat of summer, determined to effect by collecting far and near of only 12 and ½ cents (the price of one brick) from each contributor, and by dim or perseverance succeeded in the cause of a few years – a neat, well-filled brick church.”
