Rush Civil War Monument. April 12, 1961 - May 9, 1865. , ( top photo) Jacob Stull Galentine (1835-1905) enlisted with the New York 136th Volunteers at age 28. He was born and grew up in Rush, the son of John and Isabella Stull Galentine. This 1888 photograph was taken at the NY 126th monument dedication at Gettysburg Battlefield. Jacob is in the back row, immediately to the left of the monument. Photo courtesy of John DuBois, ( middle photo )Charles D. Lozier and wife, Mary. Charles Lozier was born in February 1843 in New York City and served with Company F of the New York Engineers. He was the last surviving Civil War veteran in Rush and also the last surviving member of the Lewis Gates Post, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Honeoye Falls. James was born in 1840 and George was born in 1842 in Yorkshire, England and the family immigrated to the United States in 1846. George served with the 26th NY and died in service on October 2nd, 1864 in Memphis, Tennessee. James served with the 168th NY Volunteers and lived in Rush until his death in 1925.
