1. Centenary College of Louisiana Marker
Inscription. Founded 1825 at Jackson, La., by the State of Louisiana, the college was transferred to the Methodist Church in 1845. Relocated at Shreveport in 1908. Centenary is the oldest privately operated liberal arts college west of the Mississippi.
 
Erected 1970 by The Louisiana Tourist Commission. (Marker Number 184.)
