1. Brainerd Mission Marker
Inscription. Established 1817 by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, it played an important part in the educational development and Christianizing of the Cherokee. Brainerd Cemetery contains graves of whites and Indians who died at the Mission, which was discontinued in 1838, at the time of the Cherokee Removal.
 
Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission. (Marker Number 2A 55.)
 
Location. 35° 0.571′ N, 85° 12.767′ W. Marker is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. Marker is on Eastgate Loop near Brainerd Road (U.S. 11), on the right when traveling south. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Chattanooga TN 37411, United States of America.
