The regiment was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Charles M. Ferrell at the battle.

29th Illinois Infantry,
Raith's (3d) Brig., McClernand's (1st) Div.,
Army of the Tennessee.

This regiment was in position here Sunday afternoon and night, April 6, 1862.
 
Erected by Shiloh National Military Park Commission. (Marker Number 35.)
 
Location. 35° 9.048′ N, 88° 19.525′ W. Marker is near Shiloh, Tennessee, in Hardin County. Marker is on Pittsburg Landing Road, on the right when traveling west.
