1. Fort Couch Marker
Inscription. Remains of breastworks built in June 1863 to oppose an expected attack on Harrisburg by Confederate troops. Site then known as Hummel's Heights. Fort was named for General Couch, Commander, Eastern Pennsylvania Military Department.
 
Erected by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 40° 14.801′ N, 76° 54.287′ W. Marker is in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, in Cumberland County. Marker is at the intersection of Indiana Ave. and 8th St. on Indiana Ave.. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Lemoyne PA 17043, United States of America.
