1. State Sanatorium Marker
Inscription. Opened in 1908. First state institution in North Carolina for treating tuberculosis. Sponsored by Dr. J. E. Brooks of Greensboro.
 
Erected 1957 by North Carolina Archives and Highway Departments. (Marker Number I-47.)
 
Location. 35° 3.605′ N, 79° 20.726′ W. Marker is near Raeford, North Carolina, in Hoke County. Marker is on Old State Highway 211 0.4 miles from Aberdeen Road (State Highway 211), on the right when traveling south. Touch for map.
