1. Oak of the Golden Dream Marker
Inscription. In Placeritas Canyon, March 1842, Francisco Lopez Y Arballo, while gathering wild onions from around an old oak, discovered gold particles clinging to the roots of the bulbs. It is estimated that $80,000 in gold was discovered as a result of this discovery.
 
Erected by Department of Public Works - Division of Highways. (Marker Number 136.)
 
Location. 34° 22.696′ N, 118° 33.83′ W. Marker is in Santa Clarita, California, in Los Angeles County. Marker is on Lyons Avenue east of Interstate 5, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map. These two markers ("Pioneer Oil Refinery - 2 Miles" and "Oak of the Golden Dream - 3 Miles") were once located at the site of the "Beale's Cut Stagecoach Pass" marker at 22580 Sierra Highway, Newhall CA 91321 (34 20.528′ N, 118 30.571′ W) but have now gone missing.
