1. Ybor City's First Fire Station Marker after restoration

Inscription. The Mirta Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Station was established on this site. The station was named in honor of the youngest daughter of Don Vicente Martinez Ybor, founder of Ybor City. Capt. Frank Puglisi headed the fire fighters. Volunteer firemen from Havana, Cuba took part in the colorful dedication ceremonies.

Erected 1961 by The Lions Club of Ybor City (through a project of the Ybor City Rotary Club).

Marker is located at the southeast corner of the Ybor Square building, adjacent to the tracks of the TECO Line Streetcar System. 7. Ybor Square Building

The site of Ybor City's first fire station later became home to a cigar factory, the building which today houses Ybor Square, a commercial and retail complex.
