Inscription. Original dwelling built by Ebenezer Stiles about 1752. Lighthorsemen quartered here during Revolution. House enlarged 1868 by Jonathan Roberts, founder of Library Association 1881.
 
Erected 1978 by Morris County Heritage Commission.
