Inscription. Has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior

Established in 1899 as the "Bank of Leesville" on this site. The first bank in Leesville/Vernon Parish. Founded by Mr. George R. Ferguson stockholders changed bank name to "First State Bank" in 1910 and to "The Vernon Bank" in 1933. The bank did not fail during the 1929 depression. First brick commercial structure on Third Street in Leesville.
Constructed: June 25, 1907
Architect: F.W. Steinman
Contractor: W.C. Whitney
Both of Beaumont, Texas
Cost: $11,800.00
