8th Iowa Infantry.
Sweeny's (3rd) Brig.,W.H.L. Wallace's (2d) Div.,
Army of the Tennessee.
This regiment was engaged here from about 4 to 5 p.m. April 6, 1862. It then fell back 500 yards, north-east, where its next tablet may be found.
 
Erected by Shiloh National Military Park Commission. (Marker Number 88.)
 
Location. 35° 8.121′ N, 88° 20.194′ W. Marker is in Shiloh, Tennessee, in Hardin County. Marker is on Hornet's Nest Loop 0.1 miles north of Sunken Road, on the right when traveling north.
