1. Courtney Hotel Marker
Inscription. Brothers Morris and Humphery Courtney built this multi-purpose building in 1918 with the profits from manganese mining acquired during World War I. The building speaks to the coming of the automobile as the basement housed the Granite County Garage and the first floor was a dealership and showroom for Overland automobiles. The wide door in the center made the interior showroom accessible. The upper two floors accommodated offices and hotel rooms, often occupied by schoolteachers.

This property contributes to the Philipsburg Historic District Listed in the Nation l Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior In cooperation with the Montana Historical Society
