1. Portage Railroad Marker
Inscription. Here was Number 6 of the ten inclined planes used to carry canal boats by rail, Hollidaysburg to Johnstown. This unique engineering feat was completed in 1834. The road was 36 miles long.
 
Erected 1947 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 40° 27.183′ N, 78° 32.645′ W. Marker is near Duncansville, Pennsylvania, in Blair County. Marker is on Old Route 22, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Duncansville PA 16635, United States of America.
