1. Gallinger House Marker
Fence on the left of photo is in front of the Callinger House. This photo looks northeast along Curry Street. The bell tower of Summit School (across the tracks at corner of "I" and Curry) can be seen on the left. The Depot on Tehachapi Blvd. (formerly Railroad Blvd.) can be seen on right of photo, behind tank house. Floats, wagons, and buggies are waiting to enter a parade.
Inscription. Built by Joe Gallinger in 1880, it was purchased in 1926 by Jim and Lucinda (Callie) Wiggins Brite. Upon Lucinda's death in 1944, the Davis family purchased the house. It was customary to drive sheep and cattle along Curry Street to the railroad stockyard on "G" Street (now Tehachapi Boulevard) for shipment by rail.
