Erected by the State of Illinois. (Marker Number MT-179.)
 
Marker series. This marker is included in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Point Park, and the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park: November 24, 1863 marker series.
 
Location. 35° 0.634′ N, 85° 20.626′ W. Marker is in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. Marker is at the intersection of Point Park Road and East Brow Road on Point Park Road. Touch for map. This historical marker is located at Point Park, on the northern crest of Lookout Mountain, in a portion of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. It is about 300 feet north of the walk through entrance to Point Park and situated just behind a Confederate battery that was positioned on the crest. Marker is in this post office area: Lookout Mountain TN 37350, United States of America.

More about this marker. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, “2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; polished & inscribed front. 'Illinois' is in large raised letters on beveled top. Marks unit's position during the Battle of Lookout Mountain.”
