1. Col. Francis "Gabby" Gabreski Marker
Inscription. A US Air Force pilot, he was a leading fighter ace during WWII and the Korean War. He taught fighter tactics to his pilots as squadron commander. He was highly decorated by the US and its allied partners. The son of Polish immigrants, he was born and raised in Oil City.
 
Erected 2011 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 41° 26.486′ N, 79° 42.439′ W. Marker is in Oil City, Pennsylvania, in Venango County. Marker is at the intersection of Seneca Street and Memorial Drive, on the right when traveling south on Seneca Street. Touch for map. Marker is located next to the PNA club.
