1. Hobbs Marker
Inscription. Named for the family of James Hobbs which homesteaded here in 1907, Hobbs became first a trading village for ranchers and then a major oil town after the discovery of oil by the Midwest Oil Company in 1928.
 
Location. 32° 41.789′ N, 103° 11.504′ W. Marker is in Hobbs, New Mexico, in Lea County. Marker is on U.S. 62 0.6 miles west of NW County Raod, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Hobbs NM 88240, United States of America.
