1. Franklin County, 1795 Marker
Inscription. Taken from portions of Woodford, Mercer and Shelby counties. Ky. had become a state 3 years earlier, with Frankfort as capital, 1792. First meeting of the legislature's second session met here, 1793. Frankfort made county seat, 1795. Named for Benjamin Franklin, one of the leaders for independence and creation of United States.
 
Erected 1970 by Kentucky Historical Society, Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 1359.)
