1. Lowell Mills Marker
Inscription. From 1830 to 1880 the community of Lowell Mills thrived here along Driftwood River. There were two grist mills, a cooperage, a shoemaker's shop, a distillery, a saw mill, a woolen mill, an inn and general store. When the mills closed, the town was abandoned.
 
Erected 1988 by Union Community Extension Homemakers. (Marker Number 03.1988.1.)

Location. 39° 14.376′ N, 85° 58.372′ W. Marker is near Columbus, Indiana, in Bartholomew County. Marker is at the intersection of County Road 325W and Lowell Rd, on the right when traveling north on County Road 325W. Touch for map.
