Inscription. Both the Eastman School of Music and its magnificent Eastman Theater are vivid examples of the extraordinary vision of George Eastman. The school, founded in 1921 as the first professional school of the University of Rochester, is one of the world's best. The theater which opened in 1922 anchors the cultural life of Rochester.
