Hugh P. Harris became a four-star general in 1964, the 66th officer to receive this rank. A leader in the development of the airborne concept, he held such important post as Commanding General, U.S. Continental Army Commander.
 
Erected 2013 by City of Florence.
 
Location. 34° 48.395′ N, 87° 37.884′ W. Marker is in Florence, Alabama, in Lauderdale County. Marker can be reached from Hightower Place south of Veterans Drive (Alabama Route 133), on the left when traveling south. Touch for map. Located in River Heritage Park.
