1. Jonas Salk Marker
Inscription. Jonas Salk lived with his family from 1947-1953 in a home formerly located on this site while working on the development of the first effective polio vaccine.
Shalom Research Farms, part of which is now the Pine Community Park, raised animals in the Salk polio vaccine research program.
 
Location. 40° 37.077′ N, 80° 3.352′ W. Marker is in Wexford, Pennsylvania, in Allegheny County. Marker is at the intersection of Perry Highway (U.S. 19) and Maple Drive, on the right when traveling south on Perry Highway. Touch for map.
