1. The Bewley Building Marker
Inscription. Erected by Richard C. Bewley in 1929 this structure occupies the site of the Hodge Opera House and Merchant's Gargling Oil buildings which were destroyed by fire in 1928. Stone from the original buildings is visible on the rear of the structure. The building has passed through generations of Richard Bewley's family including Charles C. Bewley, a prominent real estate broker. Plaque donated by Discover Historic Lockport, Inc. 1995.

Location. 43° 10.221′ N, 78° 41.431′ W. Marker is in Lockport, New York, in Niagara County. Marker is at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street on Main Street. Touch for map. Marker is on the southwest corner of the building facing Main Street. The building is predominently on Market Street. The building is on the obtuse corner formed by Market and Main Streets. Market Street becomes Locust Street upon crossing Main Street. Marker is at or near this postal address: 101 Main Street, Lockport NY 14094, United States of America.

7. The Bewley Building, Market Street Approach
Market Street begins at the Bewley Building, then decends part of the Niagara Escarpment, northward, to the Erie Canal. It then follows the Canal eastward to Wide Waters Marina, passing the Lockport Bank marker along the way.
