"..both sides of the border..." means U.S. and Canada.
Inscription. This cornerstone is all that remains of the first New York State chartered school in Niagara County. Students from both sides of the border attended this fine school from 1826 through the 1850's.

This monument placed by the Bicentennial Commission of the Village of Lewiston and the Niagara Frontier Lodge No. 132 F.& A. M. 1976.

Location. 43° 10.339′ N, 79° 1.941′ W. Marker is in Lewiston, New York, in Niagara County. Marker is at the intersection of South 9th Street and Center Street (New York State Route 18F), on the left when traveling north on South 9th Street. Touch for map. Marker is adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce house on Center Street, but hardly visible from Center Street. It is situated on the grounds of Academy Park. I noticed the marker from the grocery store parking lot across South 9th Street. Marker is at or near this postal address: 895 Center Street, Lewiston NY 14092, United States of America.

From perpendicular parking on Center Street, the Chamber of Commerce is left, the Lewiston Academy Marker is facing at center, and the Suspension Bridge Tollhouse is at the right. The board facing the sidewalk is a map of the Village of Lewiston.
