1. Prophetstown Marker
Inscription. Prophetstown occupies the site of the village of the Winnebago Prophet, which the Illinois volunteers destroyed on May 10, 1832, in the first act of hostility in the Black Hawk War.
 
Erected 1934 by State of Illinois.
 
Marker series. This marker is included in the Illinois State Historical Society marker series.
 
Location. 41° 40.426′ N, 89° 56.499′ W. Marker is in Prophetstown, Illinois, in Whiteside County. Marker is at the intersection of Johnson Drive and Grove Street, on the right when traveling east on Johnson Drive. Touch for map.
