1. George Gordon Meade Marker
Inscription. Soldier, civil engineer. Major general, U.S. Army. Commander, victorious Army of the Potomac at Battle of Gettysburg, 1863. Philadelphia was his family's home; he died at No. 1836 here, in a house given to him for his service to the nation.
 
Erected 1999 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
