1. Rapps Saloon Marker

Inscription. This building, the first brick structure in the city, was erected in October 1875 as a tavern by William Rapp. Known as Rapp's Saloon, it served as the Town Hall from May 1887 to January 1889.

Erected 1975 by City of Santa Monica.

marker. This building served as City Hall in 1888-1889. From 1911 to 1914 it was used by the Vitagraph Film Company movie studio. It was also home to the Salvation Army, a radiator repair shop, a piano tuning shop, and an art gallery. Old painted signs on the north wall memorialize some of the previous occupants.
