Regarding Ernesto "Che" Guevara's Visit to El Salvador. Ernesto "Che" Guevara, doctor and future Cuban revolutionary, traveled to Guatemala in 1953 after graduating from medical school in Argentina. He visited the archaeological ruins of Tazumal in April, 1954, only a few months before the US-supported military coup (Operation PBSUCCESS) that would cause the fall of Guatemala's democratic government in June, 1954. Guevara was forced to leave Guatemala for Mexico, where he would soon meet Fidel Castro and other Cuban revolutionaries. His experience seeing firsthand the overthrow of the Guatemalan
