1. Huey Long Grave Marker
Inscription. Public service commissioner, then governor, finally U.S. senator, Huey Pierce Long went from obscure upstate lawyer to flamboyant national figure. Along the way, he built a political dynasty—as well as roads, bridges, hospitals and schools. Proclaiming "Every Man a King," he'd begun hinting at his candidacy for president just a month before his assassination, in 1935, at age 42. (Marker Number 8.)
Location. Marker is missing. It was located near 30° 27.337′ N, 91° 11.258′ W. Marker was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in East Baton Rouge Parish. Marker could be reached from State Capitol Drive west of North 5th Street, on the right when traveling east. Touch for map.
