1. The Bermuda Hundred Campaign Marker
Inscription. Photograph of the ironclad ram Atlanta. The Atlanta was built by the Confederacy and was captured at Savannah Ga. by Federal forces in 1863. It saw service on the James River in the US Navy. The ship was decommissioned in 1865 and was sold to Haiti in 1869. The Atlanta disappeared at sea off of Cape Hatteras in December 1869 while in route to Haiti. This photograph was taken from near this location in March of 1865.
