Inscription. Founder of New France. Dedicated July 2, 2009 in celebration of the 400th anniversary of his trip down the lake in the summer of 1609. Champlain College is forever grateful to Trustee Emeritus and friend John W. Heisse Jr., M.D. for commissioning this statue.
