Inscription. “The valiant never taste of death but once”-Erected by the citizens of Carbondale, PA and others in memory of Patrolman William F. McAndrew who died January 18, 1913 from bullet wounds received while making an arrest in Dickson City Jan. 16, 1913-Aged 44 years-“If the ashes of the brave are the richest spoils of war, their memory belongs to posterity”
