Wildlife in the Watershed
Bald Eagle-Our national bird is the only eagle unique to North America and is found from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. There are an estimated 50,000 bald eagles in the US WITH 80% of them found in Alaska.
River Otter-The river otter is characterized by an elongated body with short, sturdy legs. It is
Mink-This aquatic member of the weasel family is found throughout most of northern North America. A large male can reach lengths of 2’ and can be bold and ferocious. This solitary, mainly nocturnal animal is a skillful hunter and preys on a variety of game.
Great Blue Heron-The Great Blue Heron is 4’ tall and has a wingspan of over 6’. This quiet, graceful bird spends 90% of its waking hours foraging for food.
